Include these in a technical report
- Clearr version and your macOS version
- Whether Library and Applications access were granted
- The cleanup category where the issue appeared
- The steps you followed and the exact error message
Hide personal file names and account names in screenshots whenever possible. A cropped image of the error is usually enough.
Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Why does Clearr ask me to select my Library folder?
App Sandbox prevents Clearr from opening your real user Library automatically. Selecting it in the macOS system panel grants access only because you chose that location. Clearr remembers the permission locally using a security-scoped bookmark.
Why is Applications access requested separately?
The user Library and Applications are different protected locations. Clearr asks for Applications access only for features that review installed apps and supported leftover files.
Does Clearr require Full Disk Access?
No. The Mac App Store version is designed to use App Sandbox and standard user-selected folder access. Clearr works only with locations macOS allows and you explicitly authorize.
Is any scan information uploaded?
No. File discovery, size calculation, and cleanup happen locally on your Mac. Clearr does not upload file paths, folder listings, scan results, or cleanup history to us.
